Covid Measures
August 22 – September 1
From August 22, far-reaching measures have again been taken by the government and the DVG – Crisis Team. As consequence we get many questions from our students and parents about what now? What does this mean for the dance studio and all the classes.
First of all, it is important that we all recognize that Covid-19 is a very complex problem in our society but also in the world. It is difficult to solve this together and individually and that not everyone agrees with whatever decision the government makes.
It is also clear that poor communication by official bodies and renowned media offers a lot of room for doubt, nonsensical thinking, unreasonableness and has caused a lot of dissatisfaction since the outbreak here in Aruba. As a consequence, this has in many cases also caused fear, tension and ignorance.
At Aruba Dance Studios, we will continue with our dance classes.
We can’t just look for another job or close the studio.
In addition, we believe that dance and movement is an important healthy activity for all ages.
What are the adjustments that ADS will make during this period: 22Aug-1Sep.
ADS YOUTH
It is generally known that the mortality risk for children under 12 years is nil. However, variants may involve transmission of the virus, from older children. And could place parents in undesirable situations, again if parents or family members are extra vulnerable. To prevent this as much as possible, we believe that the following measures should be able to contribute in reducing potential transmission:
- Parents cannot enter the studio, so drop off and pick up at the gate outside. A representative from ADS will take care of the children there.
- We ask the parents not to let the children under age of 12 to walk to/from the car alone.
- Children showing minimal symptoms, please cancel the class. Especially when minor coughing, sneezing, allergies, running nose, eye infections, headaches, diarrhea, etc. are some of most common symptoms that may be underestimated.
- Children once inside do NOT have to wear a facemask. We find that during the lesson inconvenient, unhealthy and dangerous, for the child.
ADS ADULTS/GENERAL
By participating in pro-actively adapting precautionary measures we believe we are doing our part, as part of the community.
- A Facemask in the waiting area is mandatory as from 13 years old.
- On the dance floor, a Facemask is mandatory as from 15 years old.
- We do NOT and will NOT have a mandatory vaccination policy, we believe that is NOT our place.
As we DO believe in the so-called community immunity, we understand that vaccination itself will NOT stop transmission, because of this we still need to act responsibly and be vigilant to prevent further transmission of the virus. - We strongly believe the responsibility to protect vulnerable individuals (risk groups) lies primarily in the hands of themselves, but also their family and relevant authorities. ADS cannot be held responsible for this.
- Everyone will have to disinfect their hands when entering the studio.
- ADS will disinfect the entire space, air conditioning filters and all contact surfaces daily.
- All our dance teachers are responsible people and do everything they can to stay healthy and prevent contamination/spread. They will avoid gatherings with large agglomeration of people.
They will also obey and respect the well-known precautionary measurements. - The partner dance lessons for adults:
- During this period we will not allow “partner switching”.
- Only partners from the same household are allowed physical contact.
- Group lessons for locals are reduced to a capacity of 50%.
- During this period, a distance of 1.5 meters will be maintained during the entire group lesson.
